When Polyurethane Wheels Are Not Suitable for Industrial Transport Vehicles
Hello everyone, I'm Abby from Henan Peisa Machinery. Through my years in this industry, I've realized that while many customers have a good understanding of our product range, they often lack knowledge about the wheels used in industrial transport vehicles. Polyurethane-coated wheels are a common choice, but today I'd like to discuss some industrial environments where they are not suitable. These ideas are based on our past project examples and hopefully will be helpful.
1. High-Temperature Workshops
In environments such as steelmaking workshops, heat treatment workshops, and mold casting workshops, where the working temperature exceeds 80°C, we do not recommend using traditional polyurethane wheels. Prolonged exposure to such temperatures can easily cause these wheels to deform or even melt, posing significant safety risks.

2. Long-Term Heavy-Duty Operations
While polyurethane materials offer excellent wear resistance and strong grip, and electric flat carswith this configuration have good load-bearing capacity, they may crack under prolonged continuous operation, especially when fully loaded. In such cases, we recommend using rubber-coated steel wheels to extend the service life of the transport vehicle.
3. Surfaces with High Hardness or Sharp Objects
In our past projects, we found that polyurethane wheels are easily damaged by surfaces containing steel rails, steel slag, or gravel. The hardness and sharp edges of these surfaces can cause wear or even cracking of the wheel surface. Therefore, we recommend avoiding the use of polyurethane wheels in high-risk environments such as welding workshops and steel cutting plants.

4. Rough or Uneven Surfaces
While polyurethane wheels offer strong grip and wear resistance, they are prone to wear and even damage on rough or uneven surfaces, especially under prolonged heavy loads. In these cases, we recommend selecting a wheel material better suited to the environment to ensure the long-term stable operation of the transport vehicle.
If you need a customized solution but are unsure which wheel type is best for your specific situation, please contact us directly. We will provide a professional configuration plan based on your specific requirements.
Choosing the right wheels not only helps reduce losses caused by frequent changes or transport vehicle malfunctions, but also improves the overall material handling efficiency of the workshop.
